The Brewers’ prospects participated in All Star games in the Midwest, Carolina and Southern Leagues last night. Many of the big names delivered with impressive performances too.

Southern League

In the AA Southern League, Corey Ray led off in centerfield and went 2–5 with a double and 2 runs scored. Jake Hager drove in a run and went 1–5 on the night. The Shuckers closer, Nate Griep, threw a scoreless inning for the South squad as did Thomas Jankins.

Carolina League

I was in Zebulon, NC to watch the Carolina League All Star Game as the Mudcats hosted the game at Five County Stadium. Manager Joe Ayrault had 4 players in the game for the South squad and although Cam Roegner gave up 3 runs in his only inning on the mound, Marcos Diplan through a scorless 5th. Rogener’s command was a bit off and he gave up some hard contact. Those two things have been a rarity for him this season. Diplan touched 97 on the radar gun at Five County Stadium and sat 95–96 through his inning. On top of the high end velocity, Diplan’s fastball had a good deal of movement on it in the zone. It’s a big time fastball. Diplan worked some sliders in along with one change up in the inning (as far as I could tell). Max McDowell continued his assault on base runners by chalking up another “caught stealing.” McDowell told me his success in throwing out runners is more due to his quickness on the transfer and release than his actual arm strength. Tucker Neuhaus started at 2nd base and made a tremendous play in the field but went 0–4 at the plate.

Midwest League

In the Midwest League All Star Game, the Wisconsin TimberRattlers had 3 players make an impact for the West Squad. Dylan File threw 2/3 of an inning and recorded a strikeout. Payton Henry came off the bench and went 1–1 and Demi Orimoloye got the start in LF and went 1–2.

Helena Brewers and Arizona League Brewers are underway. Helena is 2–2 so far on the young season and 2018 draft pick, catcher David Fry, launched his first home run of the season on Tuesday.

Meanwhile the AZL Brewers are 0–2 but 2018 pick Micah Bello has been impressive so far. The Hawaii native went 3–5 with a home run on Tuesday in the loss.
